Saturdays...

Ever since we got married, Saturdays have been one of the highlights of my week. We typically wake up, make breakfast, and plan our adventure. I am so grateful for this season in our lives, where we have so much time together to enjoy the gift of marriage. God has been so good to us. Enough about that...our newest creation is the German pancake. We had them at Original Pancake House and LOVED them. We got a recipe, thanks to Donna, and tried it out, it was better than the restaurant. Taylor and I think this will be one of our holiday traditions now!

And then we went to the dog beach...which was wonderful. It was perfect weather, although very crowded!

Our fam...

Bailey gets very thirsty after all that running around, so Taylor insists on lugging around this huge bowl of water so she can have a clean drink when she needs it.

Lessons from Rwanda

The privilege of leading a team to Rwanda as a couple is an experience we will never forget. We learned about ourselves, our country, Rwanda, and most importantly, our God. So to all who gave so that we could go....thank you for investing in His work.

We were blessed with an amazing team. They were humble, teachable, and eager to serve. We feel so honored to have been a part of their lives for this season. We watched them stretch themselves in uncomfortable situations, serve in the face of exhaustion, and catch the vision for what living for God is really all about.

One of the biggest challenges in Rwanda was being exposed to so much poverty. But it's even heavier than that, we were exposed to the lack of the American dream. In Rwanda, you can't work your way to your dreams, your dreams remain dreams. Your country remains in poverty. We realized how blessed we are to have the privilege of dreaming of financially successful futures where our hopes and dreams are fulfilled.

Yet in the face of all this poverty, there is hope in Rwanda. The students there are working hard, working together, to help develop Rwanda into a great nation. I was inspired by this hope, this determination, this trust in the Lord.

Rwanda is absolutely beautiful, it reminds me of Ireland, they call Rwanda "the land of a thousand hills." It is said that God roams the earth in the day, but he rests in Rwanda at night. You can see why...

Thank you Lord, for sending us to Rwanda. "May your unfailing love rest upon us Oh Lord, even as we put our hope in you." Psalm 33:22
